WNRR #28

Cutting it close with the short notice this week, but with rain in the forecast, we have a shot at a seriously epic ride! Lights will be important. For the route, I'm thinking of switching it up and running Old Spicewood - that goes through the woods and basically runs into McNeil. Fun place to ride at night, but totally unlit. Watch out for javelinas!

As always, the pace of the ride depends on who shows up. If you frequent the Monday night Heavy Metal Fitness rides, you can probably hang on this one. You're definitely good if you frequent the ATC ride, the Tuesday Nighter, the Driveway Crits, or any of the other local spandex-fests. Sometimes, we have a really sedate group, and we just kinda chill and take it easy - the only way to find out is to come out and see for yourself!

27 January 2010

Sorry for the late notice - no ride this week.

Again, a perfect storm of work, training for road racing, and trying to maintain some semblance of a non-bike-related life have prevented me from getting the ride together this week (1/27). See you next week!

18 January 2010

Back again for the 27th time!

We now return to our regularly-scheduled weeknight group ride. Trust me, the break was much-needed; I wouldn't have been much fun as a ride leader anyway.

So now we're back. The general format, meeting time, and location haven't changed. The ride will be a little longer this time, and a little less urban - we'll be exploring, so plan accordingly. Don't skimp on the lighting this time around; not all the roads we're riding will have street lights. Bring what you need to fix a flat, too, and plenty of water.

12 January 2010

No ride on 1/13 either.

Again, sorry guys. I'll run a super-sweet route next week, weather-permitting!

05 January 2010

No ride this week (1/6)

Sorry, guys - no ride this week. I really need a break! We'll be back at it, harder than ever, for next week. Mark your calendar for 1/13!

WNRR #26 - last one of the year!

As usual, we're meeting at Drungo's at 7:00 PM. This time, though, the route is going to be quite a bit different. We'll be taking advantage of the nearly-full moon to ride some unlit roads up north, so don't show up without your lights. Seriously, I don't want to see anyone get hurt in the dark. It's also going to be a little longer than usual, so bring water - you'll need it, even if it's cold and you don't feel thirsty.

Most importantly, if you're a fixie guy, bring a bike with brakes. There are hills on this route that you CANNOT go down safely on a brakeless track bike. The climbs this time around are easy, but the descents are serious. "I told you so" isn't much comfort to me if we have to stop the ride to wait for an ambulance.

I don't plan to run this route on a regular basis, so if you want to come check it out, this is your chance! If we get enough people, I'd like to break it up into an A group and a B group, so nobody has to ride alone. Hope to see you there!

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to give me a holler at dksato@gmail.com.

Wednesday Night Road Ride #25 + Guest ride leader

I actually made the flyer in a timely manner for this one, because you've got a guest ride leader this time around. I'll be in Tulsa, thinking about you guys! Right now, it's looking like a slight chance of rain for Wednesday, so don't forget to air your tires down. Shoe covers are always a good idea in the rain, as are rain jackets and baselayers.

Also, it's too soon to give up the details, but I have something SERIOUSLY cool planned for the ride on the 30th - it's the last one of the year, so expect an AWESOME ride.

16 December 2009

Next week's ride is ON!

I don't have the flier together just yet, but I wanted to let you guys know that next week's ride is ON! One of our regulars has agreed to run it while I'm up in Tulsa. It'll be at 7:00 PM at Drungo's, as usual. Also, for the following week's ride on 12/30, I've got a special route planned for a special occasion (the last ride of the year).

Wednesday Night Road Ride #24

Here we go again! The route will probably be the standard one, unless I get a sudden burst of creativity in the next couple days. I do have something special in the works for the 12/30 ride, though.

If the temperature is under 50, I'll be driving to work and parking my truck at the office (near Drungo's), so email me if you wanna stash a bag of warm clothes in it.

One more thing: unless I get a volunteer to lead it, there will NOT be a ride on 12/23, because I'll be out of town. The ride will be back stronger than ever on 12/30, though, so watch out!

WNRR #23

A few points of interest:

- I have a really cool new route planned, but it'll depend on the crowd that shows up, the weather, visibility conditions, etc. Plan on the normal route; the new one is more likely for 12/30, when the nearly-full moon will aid visibility.
- If it's cold out, email me before the start, and you can stash a bag of warm clothes in my truck at my office, near Drungo's.
- Whoever left their Camelbak: I still have your Camelbak.
- Let me know if you're willing to lead a ride on 12/23. I'm going to be out of town.
